Coming off a game that sparked a flurry of negative emotions, the New York Giants seem to be back to square one in regard to the revitalization of the roster. The loss to Dallas brought a very familiar sense of loss and defeat, or in other words, a Ben McAdoo-esque vibe.

The Giants’ offensive line was abysmal, and there wasn’t even a glimpse of hope from a unit that failed to pick up even the most simple of stunts. The Cowboy set the stage for every team to mimic their game-plan and secure an easy win against a team with every weapon imaginable, but no way of utilizing them.

A crushing loss the Giants’ line:

Starting center Jon Halapio, a player that fought his way onto the starting roster after years of practice squad duties, broke his lower leg and ankle in Sunday’s loss. The injury will force him out for the remainder of the season and will ultimately put the Giants in a position of extreme need.

We can expect Spencer Pulley to slide into the center spot of head coach Pat Shurmur elects to bench right guard Patrick Omameh in favor of John Greco.

Greco filled in for Halapio after his injury, performing as well as anyone could have hoped. It’s possible he takes over the starting center job until Omameh is simply forced onto the bench due to poor performances.

With the Giants locking away their star players in the garage while the toy with a muddled offensive line, the defense is practically left to fend for itself. Years have gone and passed as the front-office continuously fails to put together a serviceable offensive front, and they still seem to be several years from being competent.

The worst part about the scenario is that they’re wasting valuable years off the lives of star players like Saquon Barkley, Odell Beckham Jr., Sterling Shepard, and Evan Engram. Pouring money into the line simply isn’t enough to fix years of bad draft picks by Jerry Reese. Signing Nate Solder and drafting Will Hernandez simply don’t make up for the inadequacies on the right side of the line. In addition, they have a quarterback that refuses to hang in the pocket and take a hit or move out of the pocket.

The Giants are realistically a mobile quarterback away from being even considered decent. At this rate, we may even see the Giants grab a signal caller in the first five picks of the 2019 draft. But, let’s not give up all hope just yet.
