Ranting About The New York Giants Before A Must-Win Week 3 Game

I’m usually the Knicks guy for this site, however, my first love is the New York ‘Football’ Giants.  I wanted to throw that out there first.  There are a lot of different directions that I can go with this article, but I mainly want to get a few things off my chest, so this rant article will be all over the place, but it’s all accurate.

The main thing is this Sunday’s game against the 0-2 Houston Texans.  I thought that last Sunday Night’s game, against the Cowboys, was a must—win, but Sunday at 1pm in Houston is an even more must win than their last game.  If the Giants do not beat the Texans, the season is over.  Yeah, I said it.  Their schedule gets more difficult and I don’t think this team can recovery, especially with this offensive line and Eli under center.

ESPN came out with an article yesterday ranking the best 0-2 teams in the NFL.  Texans were ranked 1 and the Giants were 2.  Honestly, neither teams are making the playoffs, I just thought the article was funny.  There’s other news to cover besides ranking the best 0-2 teams, but that’s besdies the points.  On paper, the Giants are a better team, but they don’t perform, it’s sad.

The window of opportunity is closing very very quickly for this team and it’s only week 3.  The amount of potential this team has is unreal, and I know everyone is getting used to the new coaches and style of play, but in reality, it’s typical Giants football.

The defense is the good.  They’re doing what their suppose to be doing even without Oliver Vernon, John Mauro and now Eli Apple for this Sunday. This is all on the offense and when I say that I mean it’s all on the offensive line and the play calling.

Head Coach Pat Shumur was suppose to be this “offensive genius”, we’ve heard that before aka McAdoo, and all I see is typical Giants play calling.  Incomplete pass on first down and then inside handoff on second down. Then, whatever the third down yardage is the Giants will throw a pass for 2-3 yards less than what they need for a first down.  They’re so predictable, it’s sickening.

So, after that mini rant.  The Giants need to win Sunday.  There’s no way around it because after the Texans we got the Saints, Panthers, Eagles, Falcons Redskins, 49ers, Bucs, Eagles, Bears, Redskins. Brutal. I see maybe, maybe 2 wins, max 3.

I’m sick of hearing how this offense is ready to “explode.” No they’re not, not with this offensive line.  Barkley has been alright.  He’d be even better with a better offensive line.  There’s no holes for him.  This offense can be so explosive, but Eli needs time to throw.  That was why stealing that first game against Jacksonville was so important.  The team might have had the confidence to play better in Dallas.

With all that being said, we need to win Sunday.  It is a must-win.  The season is pretty much over if we don’t.  The team should come out fired up with everything to prove on Sunday because they have been taking a lot of heat from the media and fans, considering we expected so much from this year’s team.  I’m not going to say Barkley, Beckham and Engram ae going to have a big game because we know they should every week and the offense should put up 30+ points, but we don’t.  So, if we have another poor showing, everyone is going to be on the hot seat…and it’s only week 3.
