New York Giants V Los Angeles Rams: Prediction, keys, how to watch

New York Giants, Daniel Jones

The 0-3 New York Giants are gearing up to face the 2-1 Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at 4:05 PM. For Big Blue, they will be looking to gain their first victory from the contest, but the Rams are not an easy challenge by any means. They have nearly tripled the Giants’ scoring this year, so far.

How to watch New York Giants V Los Angeles Rams:

  • When: Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET
  • Where: SoFi Stadium — Inglewood, California
  • TV: FOX

Keys for the Giants:

If New York is to keep the game competitive, they must establish a running game early on. Through three weeks, the Giants only have 170 rushing yards while their opponents have 369. As for passing, they have 647, allowing 704.

Second-year quarterback Daniel Jones has had a difficult time staying in the pocket and throwing the ball with time on his side. The offensive line ranks near dead last in pass protection and has been embarrassing in the run game. With Jason Garrett taking over offensive coordinator duties and the hiring of new coach Mark Colombo, the expectation was that the unit would improve, even if it was gradually. That simply hasn’t been the case, as the Giants have the lowest points for total in the NFC East, let alone the entire NFL. The second team behind them is the Washington Football team with 62. That should give you an idea of how poor Big Blue has been.

Against the San Francisco 49ers in week three, the Giants didn’t even take a single snap in the red zone, scoring all nine points through field goals by Graham Gano.

So, we can estimate the Giants will struggle against a strong Los Angeles defense. With one of the best generational talents in Aaron Donald on their side, the offensive line will have a tall task ahead of them, but it would be a great opportunity for them to establish some sort of momentum.

While I don’t think this is the matchup for the Giants to finally break out, seeing some progress in the running game would be a start.

Game prediction:

Considering how poorly the Giants matchup against the Rams across-the-board, I believe this could be a similar result to last week’s contest against the 49ers. I think the Giants will enter the game with a bit more fire, not wanting to replicate their embarrassing performance from week three.

My score prediction: 28-13, Rams
