The New York Giants are in dire need of help on both sides of the ball after a strenuous first half of the season. Sitting at 1-7 is a Big Blue team seeking leadership and a resurgence with the top NFC East teams notched at just four wins.

Mathematically speaking the Giants are still in the playoff race, and if they can win out in the second half, they can play upset with the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles. Even the Washington Redskins pose a threat, despite suffering several significant injures on the offensive line.

The Giants will be attempting to piece together their offensive line once again after the BYE. General manager Dave Gettleman cut ties with right guard Patrick Omameh, allocating $3.5 million in dead money to the 2019 salary cap. At the very least, Gettleman can admit a mistake and move on from it faster than Jerry Reese seemed to be capable of – see Ereck Flowers and any other bust.

The Giants receive support on the offensive line:

The Giants were awarded OL Jamon Brown from the Los Angeles Rams by way of the waiver wire about two weeks ago. Brown was a former starting lineman on the Rams before being suspended for the first two weeks of the season for violating the leagues substance abuse policy.

New York secured a solid option at right guard with this move, presenting a much better option over Omameh or John Greco. It’s reported that Brown will start on Monday night against the 49ers in his debut with the Giants. The new guard started in all 16 games last year for Los Angeles. With Brown taking Greco’s spot, it will be the Giants’ fourth different starting O-line combination in nine games.
