The New York Giants had a good win on Sunday but not everything that happened during the game was to the benefit of the team. Star running back Saquon Barkley sent concern through the fanbase when he had to be helped off the field with an ankle injury, and ever since that injury happened, there’s been fears about just how long it will last and how the Giants will play without their top offensive player – after all, with a rookie quarterback as starter and an unproven receiver corps, the running game is one of the more stable aspects of the offense this year.
There is some good news. It appears Barkley isn’t going to be out for too long with the ankle sprain. “I’m not out for the season. I’m going to do whatever I can to get back as quickly as possible. Not for myself, but for my team. That’s what I continue to think about. I caught myself getting a little upset on the sideline just because I wasn’t able to be out there with those guys,” Barkley told reporters after the game.
But there’s also bad news. Just because Barkley isn’t out for the season doesn’t mean the running back will return immediately, or even in the next couple of games. In fact, the injury has been reported as one that will keep Barkley out for several weeks.
The #Giants are expecting to be without star RB Saquon Barkley for the next several weeks because of his high-ankle sprain, source said. Not surprising given the nature of the injury and his presence with a walking boot and crutches on the sideline.

The injury may have a large effect on the Giants in the coming weeks – the team will have to go one more game without Golden Tate in week four against the Redskins, but even after that, the Giants could still be without Barkley for 4-8 weeks. Will Daniel Jones and his quick rise be enough to counter the missing presence of the star running back?
The answer remains unclear, but what is clear is that the Giants seemingly can’t get a break of luck this year.
