Earlier in the year, there were a lot of questions of whether or not the NFL would hold training camp as planned. The answer, for now, is yes, and the New York Giants are no exception. They’re set to begin their camp on the 28th, the same time as many of the league’s other teams.
As there haven’t been any interruptions so far, the team’s rookies have finally been allowed to travel to join the team for their eventual camp.
The first group of #Giants players (rookies, QBs, injured players) is traveling today to NJ/NYC. Testing starts tomorrow. Some of those players are already in the area, too. Bottom line: #Giants are bringing players in as NFL & NFLPA continue to negotiate.

The story has been reported by Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, who says that rookies, quarterbacks, and injured players are making their way to New Jersey. That doesn’t mean the team is out of the woods yet. Players will still have to begin virus testing and the NFLPA has already reported that 95 players around the league have tested positive.
the Giants have already started to have their problems with the disease so far, with Nate Solder potentially sitting out the season to protect the health of his son if the league’s safety measures aren’t adequate enough.
Solder also warned earlier in the year, speaking as the team’s NFLPA representative, that there won’t be any football period this season if the league doesn’t meet the safety demands of the player’s union.
The chance of not having any football this year still looms over the league at large. The preseason might be cancelled and the regular season isn’t guaranteed to happen. Even if the season does happen, there won’t be fans in the stands – a reminder of the coronavirus threat that hangs over the league.
It also doesn’t seem possible to practice distancing during training camp, a time when players work in full pads and make physical contact with each other. With that being said, things are going according to plan for the Giants without interruption in the schedule – for now, anyway.
