The New York Giants were down to what seemed to be their top target in the head coaching search, and once again, they let him slip away after his desire to meet in New Jersey rather than Texas.

Rhule, who met with the Carolina Panther on Tuesday morning with the expectation that he would interview with the Giants later on in the day, never even made it out of the Panther’s facilities before finalizing a deal.

The Giants are now in a disadvantageous position, losing out on Rhule, forcing them to settle on another option. Don “Wink” Martindale seems to be the most reliable target available after losing Rhule, who will leave the Baylor program to pursue an NFL career. This is a devastating blow for Big Blue, who once again waited too long.
