The New York Giants recently made a trade to gain draft capital in exchange for wide receiver Kadartius Toney. Despite the Giants’ clear weakness at the position, the team decided to ship out the second-year wideout and build toward the future. However, that does not mean that the Giants are not in the market to bolster the position. Sources indicate that another trade could be coming as the Giants are expressing legitimate interest in Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.
New York Giants’ interest in Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy is real
The Denver Broncos could soon be trading away one of their brightest stars on offense. Wide receiver Jerry Jeudy is a popular name swirling around trade rumors as the Broncos’ offense struggles to incorporate his skillset. The New York Giants could be a potential fit for Jeudy as he seeks a change of scenery. According to league sources, the Giants’ interest in the Broncos receiving threat is real:
“And the Giants have a particular interest in the 6-foot-1, 193-pound Jeudy, one league source said. Jeudy’s even something of a known commodity to them since he was a freshman at Alabama in 2017 when Daboll was the offensive coordinator there.”

Jerry Jeudy was selected by the Denver Broncos with the fifteenth pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Through 33 career games, Jeudy has totaled 114 receptions for 1709 yards and five touchdowns. The Giants’ offense has dealt with a slew of injuries this year, leaving them to rely on backup receivers on Sundays. Injecting Jerry Jeudy into the offense could give the Giants the upgrade in talent that they desire.
Head coach Brian Daboll has a personal connection to the Broncos’ wide receiver. Daboll coached Jeudy during his freshman year at Alabama. As the Giants contemplate making the move for Jeudy, his ability to slide into Daboll’s offensive scheme will make the move all the more compelling.
Acquiring Jerry Jeudy will cost the Giants a fair price, however. The price is expected to be steep for Jeudy as the 2020 first-round pick has already proven to be a great talent. The Giants would need to give up a fair amount of draft capital to acquire his talent, however, the potential of adding a primary receiving threat to the offense may outweigh the sacrifice of draft capital. Fortunately, Jeudy’s cap hit is manageable. The Giants would only be inheriting a contract with an annual cap hit between $4.1-4.8 million over the next two seasons.
Daniel Jones and the Giants’ offense are getting by, winning games with a strong rushing attack. But the obvious lack of receiving talent could come back to bite the team if the problem is not addressed ahead of the 2022 NFL trade deadline. Now might be the perfect time to acquire some talent for a reduced cost and bolster the offense to make a playoff push across the second half of the season.
