New York Giants Injury Update: Leonard Williams, Wan’Dale Robinson, more

New York Giants, Leonard Williams

The New York Giants should be getting a huge boost this week with a couple of key players returning from injuries. Big Blue is off to an impressive 4-1 start despite enduring a slew of injuries throughout the first five weeks of the season. Impact players such as Leonard Williams and Wan’Dale Robinson returned to practice today and could re-enter the Giants’ lineup ahead of their Week Six matchup with the Baltimore Ravens.

New York Giants getting impact players back from injuries

In today’s practice, a number of crucial players who were absent from the New York Giants’ lineup in Week Five returned to practice. Leonard Williams, Wan’Dale Robinson, Azeez Ojulari, and Tyrod Taylor were all out in Week Five but were limited participants in today’s practice.

Leonard Williams “is trending upward,” according to Dan Salomone. The New York Giants’ Pro Bowl defensive lineman has been out since Week Three with a knee injury. The injury was suffered in the Giants’ Week Two matchup with the Panthers. Leonard Williams seems set to return to the lineup in Week Six, which will be a huge boost for the Giants’ defense. Williams is coming off of a 2021 season that saw him total 6.5 sacks, 81 combined tackles, and five tackles for loss. He’s impactful as a run-defender and pass-rusher, and the Giants’ defense will vastly improve upon his return.

Wan’Dale Robinson was selected by the New York Giants in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The rookie wide receiver out of Kentucky has barely gotten the chance to play this season. He saw playing time in Week One, hauling in his only target for five yards. But shortly thereafter, Robinson left the lineup with a knee injury and has been sidelined ever since. The Giants were high on Robinson coming out of the draft and were hopeful to make him a big part of their offensive game plan. Hopefully he will be able to have that electrifying impact in the Giants’ offense this weekend.

Azeez Ojulari and Tyrod Taylor were both limited participants in today’s practice. Tyrod Taylor is likely to suit up as Daniel Jones’s backup again this week after missing last week’s game while recovering from a concussion. Azeez Ojulari, however, may need some more time to recover. Calf injuries tend to linger, and Azeez’s is lingering. His status has improved, though, and Ojulari should not be ruled out against Baltimore just yet. If Azeez Ojulari is able to suit up, that will be a huge difference-maker for the Giants’ pass-rushing unit.
