The New York Giants have completed their search for their next general manager. After interviewing a long list of strong candidates, the Giants narrowed it down to three finalists: Joe Schoen, Adam Peters, and Ryan Poles. The Giants made a decision this morning. In the end, Buffalo Bills Assistant General Manager Joe Schoen got the job (Adam Schefter).

Joe Schoen always seemed like the favorite to get the job, but now it is official. It reportedly came down to Peters and Schoen, but New York ultimately decided Schoen was the best fit.

This hiring is a real change of pace for the New York Giants. The hiring of Joe Schoen marks the first time the Giants have hired a GM without previous experience in the organization since Ernie Accorsi in 1998. Joe Schoen will serve as a breath of fresh air for a franchise that has been suffocated with losses over the course of the last decade.

The next step for Joe Schoen and the Giants is finding the team’s head coach. After a tumultuous 2021 season, the Giants fired both GM Dave Gettleman and Head Coach Joe Judge. Having filled the GM vacancy today, all attention is to be turned toward the head coaching job. According to Adam Schefter, the Giants are expected to request permission to speak with Brian Flores. Dan Quinn and Brian Daboll are other head coach candidates that the Giants are expected to speak with.
