It looks like Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliot won’t be suspended by the NFL for an incident in Las Vegas which involved getting into a confrontation with a security guard. The incident isn’t the first off the field one for the Cowboys running back and made some wonder if Elliot would see a suspension for it, but in either the right decision or a biased move depending on exactly who you ask, nothing is going to come from the incident other than Elliot meeting with the league commissioner.

“On Tuesday, as part of the review, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell met with Mr. Elliott to reinforce the standards of conduct expected of him and the consequences for failing to meet those standards…” the league announced. “Commissioner Goodell determined there was no violation of the personal conduct policy and no further action is warranted.”

While some Giants fans might be disappointed that Elliot isn’t going to see a suspension – something that would have been a great help to a Giants defense that could definitely do better against the run based on last season – it will be intriguing to see another matchup between Elliot and Saquon Barkley now that Barkley has a likely improved offensive line as well as more experience in the league.

Both players played in the Big Ten Conference, for rivals Ohio State and Penn State respectively, but Elliot came out earlier than Barkley and was already a star in the league when the second year Giants running back was first taken by the team in 2018. The Giants lost both games against Dallas last year, the last one by a point. With a win in the position battle at running back, the team may just be able to avoid that happening again in 2019.
