When New York Giants‘ star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. steps on the field, every other pass catcher bows at his greatness. But while some are observing the generational talent, others are trying to make a name for themselves on the field.

Second-year receiver Amba Etta-Tawo has proven to be an optimistic venture in the first few days of training camp, making impressive catches, one of which was a deep-ball that he snagged in stride behind the defense. The 6-foot-1, 208 pound Syracuse product spent 2017 on the practice squads of both the Jacksonville Jaguars and Kansas City Chiefs.

“It feels good,” Etta-Tawo told NJ Advance Media in regard to the praise he’s received from fans and reporters alike. “But, I’m a guy who understands that it’s only Day 1. It’s a long camp. There are lot of plays left to be made, and a lot of opportunities to make them.

Can Etta-Tawo earn a role on the New York Giants’ roster?

The Giants are in need of a solid receiver that can fill a hole if an injury arises. Currently, Big Blue has Roger Lewis and Travis Rudolph in reserve, but Etta-Tawo has a little Victor Cruz in him, so it seems. He will need to continue improving and perform well in the pre-season to earn himself a chance to land on the active roster come September.

Here’s a clip of the ability of Etta-Tawo:

Although this is from last season, you can see his physicality and ability to create separation from the second-year man. We can assume Etta-Tawo has only improved since then.

Cracking the 53-man roster will be a serious challenge, but there’s no question he has the tools to find his way onto the team. His work ethic reminds me to that of Davis Webb’s, which is very encouraging as we move forward toward pre-season.
