The New York Giants made a new addition to the injury report Friday, as star pass-rusher Brian Burns was listed on the injury report with a groin injury and is officially questionable for Week 3 against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, per ESPN’s Jordan Raanan.

Burns’ injury comes up just before a crucial game for the Giants, as they are currently 0-2 on the season and looking to turn their season around. According to North Jersey’s Art Stapleton, Burns did participate in Friday’s practice but in a limited fashion. The severity of his injury is still unclear, but there is a chance that New York will be missing their star offseason acquisition Sunday.

Burns had been noticeably quiet on the field in his first two games with the G-men. So far this season, he has yet to record a sack but does have seven tackles without a miss. The hope for the Giants is that his groin injury is not serious and that he will be able to suit up against the Browns, a team with weak pass protection and a banged offensive line.

Darius Muasau is questionable for Week 3 after missing Week 2 with a knee injury

In additional injury news, linebacker Darius Muasau is also listed as questionable with a knee injury. He missed Week 2 against the Commanders with the same injury and the Giants’ defense struggled, allowing 215 rushing yards and an additional 210 yards through the air.

Muasau was impressive in his NFL debut in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings while taking over for the injured Micah McFadden. He recorded five tackles (one for a loss), two stops, and an interception in the contest despite the Giants’ horrific 28-6 loss to begin the new season.

The Giants would like to have Muasau back on the field to stop the running game from Cleveland and give them an additional playmaker in the secondary, an area that New York is heavily shorthanded in right now.

It isn’t yet known if both Burns and Muasau will be cleared in time for Sunday’s game against the Browns, but the Giants will hope that they can have both of their best linebackers for a game that could define the course of their season going forward.
