Giants News: Evan Engram on the trade block, how for several playmakers to play against Kansas City

New York Giants, Evan Engram

The NFL trade deadline is on November 2, giving the New York Giants just a few more days to potentially find a new home for TE Evan Engram. After being a first-round pick back in 2017, Engram has failed to live up to his potential.

At 27-years-old, he still represents an athletic tight end with a unique skill set, one that another team could value for the rest of the season.

The Giants missed out on the opportunity to trade Evan to the Arizona Cardinals, but apparently, several others are still acquiring about his services.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported that there’s a genuine interest in Engram around the league, which could create a small bidding war for draft capital.

Multiple teams are interested in Giants tight end Evan Engram. There’s genuine affinity league-wide for his skill set despite the lack of elite production. The Giants could be faced with a decision on him.

Engram has made five appearances this year, reaching 30 yards receiving on just two occasions. In the most recent victory over the Carolina Panthers, Engram posted 44 yards and six receptions, but the team didn’t look his way frequently despite missing Kadarius Toney, Saquon Barkley, Sterling Shepard, and Kenny Golladay.

This would be a good opportunity for the Giants to recoup some draft capital, given the expectation is that they will let the veteran walk in free agency this upcoming off-season. Given he’s in the final year of his rookie deal, the expectation is that he might garner a 4–5 round draft selection.

Several playmakers for the Giants take the practice field:

The Giants are preparing to take all the Kansas City Chiefs next Monday on Prime Time television, and they will need all hands on deck to take them down. The Chiefs are coming off a disappointing defeat to the Tennessee Titans, where they just scored just three points. They have one of the worst defenses in the NFL, and their offense is struggling to maintain their dominance. The Giants are coming off a morale-boosting win over Carolina, and they are hopeful of gaining back several playmakers.

Shepard, Golladay, Barkley, and Toney all practiced in a limited fashion on Wednesday, giving them a chance at playing against Kansas City. They will undoubtedly need some of them, if not all, to overcome a Chiefs offense that ranks 8th in points scored per game at 26.9. Defensively, though, they are in the bottom six in the league in points allowed with 29.

This gives the Giants an opening to take advantage, but winning at Arrowhead without their best weapons is improbable.
