New York Giants (7-5-1) quarterback Daniel Jones is going to be leading his team in their biggest game of the season, and possibly the biggest of his Giants career, when they take on the Washington Commanders (7-5-1) in a pivotal game with playoff implications on the line for both teams.

In what has been a prove-it year for the Giants quarterback – a free agent in 2023 – Jones has had his best season yet in his young NFL career.

The team’s 7-5-1 record is already the most wins Jones has had as a Giant in a single season, and he currently has a career-high in passer rating at 91.6 and has limited his turnovers to just seven on the year, which troubled him for the majority of his first three NFL seasons.

The New York Giants need the best version of Daniel Jones against Washington:

Jones has had his trial run with an intense playoff pursuit, as the Giants fell just one game short of a playoff spot despite finishing with a 6-10 record in the 2020 season. However, he has never had a winning record this far into a season and has also never been successful in prime-time games, being 0-9 in those games.

Therefore, Sunday’s game has all the makings of being Jones’ biggest test as to whether he is meant to be built around by the Giants going forward.

Jones says that he doesn’t think about his misfortunes on the biggest stage and views every game as different than the others. He’s looking forward to making a statement as to why he deserves to be the main guy in the future.

“I think I don’t make a ton of it,” Jones said. “I think each game is different, and we haven’t won enough games period around here. I’m excited for the opportunity.”

This game also comes at a time when the Giants have entered a precipitous slide. They are 1-4-1 since their 6-1 start to the season, causing them to slip to the seventh and final playoff spot in the NFC.

Jones will have to propel this Giants team out of its slide and back into the juggernaut they were prior to their bye week, as their schedule ahead of them does not get any easier, with matchups against the Vikings, Colts, and Eagles to close out the regular season.
