This past Saturday in the co-main event of UFC 277, the interim flyweight title was on the line. The former champion Brandon Moreno (20-6-2) was trying to regain a piece of flyweight gold as he took on Kai Kara-France (24-10).

The fight started out pretty well for the former UFC champion. Moreno at least in my eyes was getting the better of the striking. Kara-France seemed to be struggling to pull the trigger in the first couple of rounds. However, the rounds were still close.

The scorecards were all over the place and it had the fight essentially even going into the third. In the third round, Kara-France really started to show out. He was landing really good shots and caused a lot of damage.

Moreno had a nice gash under his eye and his eye was swelling quickly. However, the former UFC champion was still determined. Late in the third round, Moreno hit Kara-France with a flush kick to the ribs that sent him down. Moreno pounced and got the TKO victory to become interim champion.

UFC booking Moreno – Figueiredo 4?

After the fight was over, Deiveson Figueiredo entered the octagon holding his flyweight title. Moreno stood there talking with Joe Rogan and we really didn’t know what to expect. Moreno stated that he wanted to be a good example for his daughter and he shook Figueiredo’s hand.

Figueiredo acknowledged the mutual respect between the two men and called for a UFC title fight in Brazil. After the fight was over, Dana White was asked if the fourth fight would be next considering where both men are at.

Obviously this is the fight to make and White stated the UFC would make it happen. He also stated that this is one of those weird scenarios where these two could keep fighting over and over. These two are the best flyweights in the UFC and they will always put on a show.

Hard to tell when the fight will take place. It will either take place later this year or early next year. The UFC is planning on going back to Brazil and if it fits the timeline, the fourth fight could be in Figueiredo’s back yard.
