What’s next for Kai Kara-France after UFC 277?

This past Saturday in the co-main event of UFC 277, the interim flyweight title was on the line. Brandon Moreno (20-6-2) was looking to regain a piece of flyweight gold and Kai Kara-France (24-10) was looking to bring another title back to City Kickboxing.

These two had previously fought a few years ago and the fight was very close. I was anticipating this being another close fight and that’s what we saw for the first couple of rounds at UFC 277. Both men had their moments in the opening rounds.

To me, Moreno was getting the better of things through two. However, the scorecards were all over the place. One judge had Moreno up 2-0, one had Kara-France up 2-0 and the other judge had the fight even.

In the third round, Kara-France really started to turn things on. He was able to get Moreno on the ground and landed some really good shots. On the feet he was busting Moreno up. Then out of no where, Moreno landed a massive body kick that folded Kara-France. Moreno followed up and got the win at UFC 277.

What’s next after UFC 277?

This is a really tough one for Kara-France to swallow. All the momentum seemed to be with him at UFC 277 and then he got caught with a perfect body shot that ended his night. Nevertheless, he proved that he belongs at the top of the flyweight division and I don’t think this will be his only title shot.

That being said, what should be next for Kai Kara-France? If I was booking things, there are three potential fights for Kai Kara-France that I would book. One would be with Matt Schnell. I think that would be a fun fight for UFC fans.

The other two would be rematches. Either a rematch with Alexandre Pantoja or Brandon Royval would be great options for Kara-France in his next UFC bout. Personally, this would be the route that I would go.
