UFC Vegas 56 Co-Main Event Preview: Dan Ige – Movsar Evloev

Tomorrow night in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 56, we are going to see a very intriguing matchup in the featherweight division. One of the brightest prospects in the division, Movsar Evloev (15-0) gets the toughest test of his career when he takes on “50K” Dan Ige (15-5).

After being a champion in M-1 Gloval, Movsar Evloev signed with the UFC in 2019. Since making his debut with the promotion, he’s gone a perfect 5-0. He’s shown off his tremendous grappling and his overall skillset.

He’s going to need all of his tools tomorrow at UFC Vegas 56 when he takes on Dan Ige. Dan Ige lost his first fight in the UFC after he earned himself a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series.

However, after that, he would go on to win six straight including a fight over Edson Barboza. That streak vaulted him to the top of the UFC’s featherweight division. However, he’s faltered a bit with top competition going just 1-3 in his last four. He’s hoping to make a statement win over Evloev tomorrow night.

UFC Vegas 56 Prediction

In tomorrow night’s co-main event, it’s going to be your classic striker versus grappler matchup. Dan Ige is going to try and keep things standing at UFC Vegas 56 while Movsar Evloev is going to look to land his takedowns.

Now, Evloev will be able to hold his own on the feet. He does have some decent striking, however, we all know what his bread and butter is. He’s going to look to use his superior grappling to get a decision win tomorrow night.

Dan Ige needs to get off to a hot start. He needs to land shots on Evloev that have meaning in order to gain respect. If he can get respect early, it will make the takedown attempts more telegraphed and easier to defend.

However, I’m still not convinced that Ige will be able to stop those takedowns. Evloev is a massive betting favorite and if you’re a gambler, I think the smarter money is Ige. However, my gut tells me that Evloev gets the biggest win of his UFC career tomorrow night on the strength of his grappling.

Prediction: Movsar Evloev by Decision
