UFC Vegas 48 Preview: Johnny Walker – Jamahal Hill

Tomorrow night in the main event of UFC Vegas 48, we will see a big time battle in the light heavyweight division. Top contenders will go head-to-head as Johnny Walker (18-6) takes on the surging top prospect Jamahal Hill (9-1, 1 NC).

Walker is going to be looking to bounce back in this one. The last time we saw Johnny Walker, he was headlining a UFC Fight Night against former title challenger Thiago Santos. It didn’t go well for Walker.

Walker was very tentative and not effective enough to win himself a decision. A few years ago, Walker was in the same position that Hill finds himself in now. The hottest prospect in the UFC’s light heavyweight division.

However, he’s fell on harder times as he’s just 1-3 in his last four. This is a big fight for him to try and get back on track. However, it’s not going to be easy as he’s taking on arguably the best prospect the division has seen in some time.

Since earning a UFC contract on The Contender Series, Jamahal Hill has nearly been perfect and he’s racked up some big wins. Including knockout victories over Ovince St. Preux and Jimmy Crute in his last fight.

The lone loss he’s had in the UFC came against Jiu Jitsu expert Paul Craig. Craig pulled guard and locked Hill up in a nasty submission. However, outside of that, nobody has touched Hill inside the octagon.

UFC Vegas 48 Prediction

If you want to watch a fight where two guys are going to stand and trade then the UFC Vegas 48 main event is for you. I’m not expecting many takedown attempts if any at all tomorrow night.

Now, I’m very curious to see the game plan of Walker. Given Walker’s chin and how he fought Santos, I’m expecting a leg kick heavy and more cautious approach compared to how he used to fight.

That could cause some lulls in the action at UFC Vegas 48, but I’m expecting some big exchanges. In those big exchanges, I’m expecting Hill to hurt Walker. I just love Hill’s technical striking ability and his ability to land counter shots with big power.

Ultimately, I think Hill will catch Walker with something big in the second round and make another statement tomorrow night.

Prediction: Jamahal Hill by TKO – Round 2
