In the main event of UFC Louisville, we saw a battle between two top seven middleweights. Former title challenger Jared Cannonier (17-6) was looking to take another step towards another title shot as he took on the “Russian Sniper” Nassourdine Imavov (13-4).

Both men were coming off wins in main event. Imavov defeated Roman Dolidze earlier this year and last summer Cannonier dominated Marvin Vettori over the course of five rounds. Both of these men were looking to do the same in tonight’s main event.

Cannonier started out well, but Imavov really picked up the momentum in the middle rounds. In the fourth, Cannonier was rocked badly by a big shot from Imavov. He never hit the ground but Imavov was all over him. Jason Herzog stopped it which was extremely questionable but Imavov still gets the TKO win at UFC Louisville.

UFC Main Card Recap

Kicking things off on the main card was a welterweight contest between Miguel Baeza (10-4) and Puna Soriano (10-4). Puna was making his welterweight debut and there were a lot of questions on how he’d look. Well, he answered all the questions tonight completely dominating Baeza over the course of three rounds.

The second fight on the main card was over in a flash as Zach Reese (7-1) took on Julian Marquez (9-5). Reese had never seen a second round and that trend continued as he completely ran through Marquez finishing him in 20 seconds.

In the third fight on the main card we saw Brunno Ferreira (12-1) take on Dustin Stoltzfus (15-6). These two got after it right away and this fight also didn’t see a second round as Ferreira finished Stoltzfus with a barrage starting with a nasty spinning back elbow.

The fourth fight on the UFC Louisville main card featured super prospect Raul Rosas Jr (9-1) taking on former Ultimate Fighter winner Ricky Turcios (12-4). These two scrambled their way through a wild first round before Rosas Jr was able to get Turcios back in the second and lock up a rear naked choke.

The co-main event of UFC Louisville featured the return of a former light heavyweight champion. Dominick Reyes (13-4) returned as he tried to stop his four-fight losing streak against former Glory kickboxer Dustin Jacoby (19-9-1). Dustin Jacoby tried checking the chin of Reyes but it held up. Reyes caught Jacoby flush with a left that rocked him and then Reyes blitzed Jacoby and finished him in the first round.
