The UFC has finalized a banger of a bantamweight matchup to headline a Fight Night in April. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto was the first to report earlier this morning that the promotion has closed a deal to have Rob Font (19-5) and Marlon “Chito” Vera (20-7-1).

The matchup will headline a UFC Fight Night on April 30th. In this fight, Rob Font is going to look to get back on the winning path. The last time we saw Font was back in December in a headliner against former featherweight champion Jose Aldo.

Font was actually the betting favorite by many, but was dominated by Aldo. In the fight, Font had a really difficult time dealing with the power and explosive speed of the former champion. However, he did have his moments in there.

The loss snapped a four-fight winning streak for Font that had him in UFC title contention. This headlining event will give Font the chance to get right back in there and establish himself back in the title mix at 135.

UFC Headliner for Chito

Like Rob Font, the last time that Chito Vera lost was to Jose Aldo. However, he’s bounced back strong with two-straight wins since that loss to the former champion. The last time we saw Chito Vera was back at UFC 268 in November.

That night he took on former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. After a shaky first round, Chito came on strong and ultimately landed a brutal front kick knockout that put the former champion out.

Going back to 2018, Chito Vera is now 8-2 in his last ten fights. However, the one loss was a loss to Song Yadong in a fight that many believed Chito had won. Had he won that fight, he would’ve been looking at nine out of ten.

While the win over Edgar was big, the signature win for Vera came at UFC 252 when he handed Sean O’Malley his first career loss. That win really put Chito Vera on the map and now he’s getting a UFC headliner against Font. Should he win this one, he’s going to be getting awfully close to the title picture.
