The UFC has finalized a fun matchup between two of the more tenured lightweights in the promotion. MMA Junkie was the first to report yesterday that “King” Bobby Green (29-13-1) returns in July as he takes on Jim “A-10” Miller (34-16).
The matchup will take place on July 2nd at UFC 276. Originally, Miller and Bobby Green were supposed to fight back in February of 2021 but that fight was scrapped. Now, they will meet in July.
For Miller, He’s going to be looking for his third straight win. Jim Miller has made it clear what he wants in terms of finishing out his career. He wants to continue fighting until he gets the chance to compete at UFC 300.
Miller would have fought then on the 100th, 200th, and 300th PPV for the promotion. A-10 went through a rough stretch in 2020 and 2021 where he went 1-3 in four fights. Wasn’t sure if he’d be able to make it to UFC 300, but he’s really turned things around.
He has scored back-to-back finishes over Nikolas Motta and Erick Gonzalez. If he can beat Bobby Green, it will go a long way in showing that Jim Miller still has plenty in the tank.
UFC’s King Returns
Entering 2020, Bobby Green wasn’t sure if he wanted to keep fighting. He had gone through a rough stretch in his UFC career that saw him go 1-5-1 in seven fights. However, he wanted to keep fighting and started his 2020 in June against Clay Guida.
Starting with the Guida fight, Green won three straight UFC fights. Those three wins earned him fights with Thiago Moises and Rafael Fiziev. Now, he lost both of those, but he had good showings especially against Fiziev.
After that, he won another two fights and these were even more impressive. He knocked out Al Iaquinta at UFC 268 and then completely pieced up Nasrat Haqparast at UFC 271 in February.
After that, he took a very short-notice main event against Islam Makhachev. Now, he was finished in the first round, but I’m throwing that fight out due to the extreme short-notice.
This is a big fight for Green to get back on track and get back to his winning ways. This should be a fun one for fans.
