The UFC made a big announcement this morning when they announced on their social media pages that they were officially returning to London, England. There’s been rumors for a while, but this is the first time that we have confirmation that the promotion will be returning to England.
The UFC will return on March 19th for a Fight Night. A few fights have already been booked for the fight night. Most notably, Tom Aspinall (11-2) will be fighting. Aspinall is being looked at as the best prospect in the heavyweight division.
The native of England will be taking on Shamil Abdurakhimov. Another big time prospect fighting on the March 19th card is Jack Shore (15-0). Shore will have his fourth UFC fight and as you can tell by his record, he’s going to look to remain perfect.
Standing across from Shore will be Timur Valley. This is a big card and the UFC has some work to do in terms of booking the main event. While nothing has been announced or even finalized, there are a couple of additional big fights that are being rumored.
UFC London’s Featured Bouts
A big rumor going around is that Darren Till (18-4-1) will be headlining the UFC’s return to London. That’s not a big surprise considering he’s arguably the biggest star in the promotion from there. The word is that he would be taking on dangerous striker Uriah Hall (17-10).
Again, this fight has not been finalized, but that’s the direction it seems like the promotion is going. Dana White said that the UFC is also working on Paddy Pimblett (17-3) taking on Jared Gordon (18-4). Although both camps have denied that a fight has been finalized, if Dana White says it, it’s likely going to happen.
Pimblett has superstar potential and it would be massive to get him a fight in front of him home fans. Gordon would present a good challenge to Pimblett and he would show us exactly where he’s at. Once finalized, I’m expecting a strong card for the UFC’s return to London after three years away.
