UFC 282 Co-Main Preview: Paddy Pimblett – Jared Gordon

Tomorrow night in the co-headliner of UFC 282, the UK is taking over as Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett (19-3) makes his PPV debut as he takes on Jared “Flash” Gordon (19-5). It’s a welcomed step-up in competition for Paddy The Baddy.

Pimblett had a ton of hype upon entering the UFC. The former Cage Warriors champion was almost being touted like the UK’s version of Conor McGregor. He even became sponsored by Barstool Sports and his performances have disappointed.

Since making his debut, Pimblett is a perfect 3-0 with all three wins coming via finish. With every fight, Pimblett has continued stepping up in competition. The UFC is bringing him along casually because they know his star potential. His next step up comes tomorrow night against Gordon.

Gordon has been in there with some of the best in the world including former champion Charles Oliveira. He’s not going to be intimidated by the man he’s standing across from tomorrow night. He’s coming off a big win himself against Leonardo Santos.

UFC 282 Prediction

Jared Gordon personifies toughness and he’s not going to back down from Paddy Pimblett. He’s also solid wherever the fight goes and he’s comfortable. If they are striking, he’s comfortable. If they are grappling, he’s comfortable.

That being said, I’m just not sure he has a lot of advantages in this fight. Speed and power are going to go to Pimblett. Grappling advantage definitely goes to Pimblett and just overall finishing ability goes to Paddy The Baddy. Gordon isn’t going to make it easy, but it’s Pimblett’s fight to lose at UFC 282.

I see another finish happening here. Gordon will have his moments in the first round to get Pimblett’s attention. However, in the second round, I think Pimblett lands something big and it forces the fight to the ground where he’ll find a submission and get the win.

Prediction: Paddy Pimblett by Submission – Round 2
