Edson Barboza knocks out Shane Burgos at UFC 262

Edson Barboza

Kicking off the PPV main card at UFC 262 was a featherweight matchup between two dynamic strikers. Edson Barboza (21-9) was making his third appearance in the featherweight division as he was taking on “Hurricane” Shane Burgos (13-2).

Since making his debut with the UFC, Shane Burgos has only lost to top flight competition. His two losses have come against Calvin Kattar and Josh Emmett. The last time we saw Burgos was the Emmett fight which was one of the UFC‘s fights of the year in 2020.

Burgos was looking to bounce back from that loss tonight. He has very good hands and a ton of power, but he was going up against one of the more dynamic and fast strikers in the UFC.

For years, Edson Barboza has been known as one of the premier strikers in the UFC. Barboza spent the majority of his career in the lightweight division. During that time, Barboza only lost to the best of the best.

Last year, Barboza decided to drop down to 145 pounds. Since that move, he’s gone 1-1 but the one loss was a razor close split decision. Barboza was hoping to pick up a win over Burgos tonight which would likely put him in the top ten of the UFC‘s featherweight division.
