Bellator has booked a big time welterweight title fight that will go down in a few months. The promotion took to Twitter this morning to make the news official that Yaroslav Amosov (26-0) will be defending his welterweight title against Michael “Venom” Page (20-1).

The matchup will take place on May 13th and it will take place in London. MVP is finally going to get another crack at becoming Bellator’s welterweight champion. Last week, we published an article talking about how 2022 could be a massive year for Michael “Venom” Page.

MVP enters 2022 and will enter this title shot having won six fights in a row. His last loss came against Douglas Lima back at Bellator 221. However, he’s been on an incredible run since winning six straight fights and finishing four of those opponents.

The last time we saw MVP was at Bellator 267 when he had his rematch with Douglas Lima. He edged out Lima to win a very close split decision. There was talk of the trilogy happening next, but Bellator opted to book the title fight for London instead.

Bellator champion’s first defense

The man who will be looking to spoil MVP’s homecoming in May is the current Bellator welterweight champion Yaroslav Amosov. Amosov made his debut with the promotion back in 2018 and he’s been nothing but dominant since arriving.

Overall, Amosov is 7-0 in Bellator. The last time we saw him was back in June at Bellator 260 when he got his shot against Douglas Lima. Lima was the welterweight champion and was extremely motivated after he lost a title fight in the middleweight division.

However, that motivation couldn’t overcome the steady attack of Amosov. Amosov dominated the grappling on his way to becoming Bellator’s undisputed champion. Now, he gets a massive fight against MVP. If he can win this one, it’s hard to see someone taking that title away from him. Should be a good one in May.
