The UFC has finalized a big time matchup in the women’s flyweight division for March. Dama de Ferro MMA was the first to report and later confirmed by MMA Junkie that Amanda Ribas (11-3) will be returning in March to take on fellow Brazilian Viviane Araujo (11-4).

The matchup will go down at UFC 285 on March 4th. The promotion is gearing up for a big time PPV to kick off March and this is just another solid matchup added to the card. For Araujo, she’s looking to get back on track after a loss in her last performance.

In October, she headlined a Fight Night against Alexa Grasso. Grasso was able to win a decision which halted the momentum for Viviane Araujo. Araujo is now 1-2 in her last three but the losses have come against Grasso and top contender Katlyn Chookagian.

Ribas returns at UFC 285

Ribas had made a name for herself in the UFC’s strawweight division to start out her career inside the octagon. Things were derailed by a loss to Marina Rodriguez, but she bounced back well against Virna Jandiroba.

Following that win, she moved up to 125 and faced off against Katlyn Chookagian. Chookagian was the top ranked contender at the time and Ribas fought her extremely well. She still lost, but it was a split decision. Following that fight, she decided to stay in the flyweight division.

While she might be a little undersized at 125 pounds, she feels good at the weight class and she’s shown that she can compete with the best the division has to offer. Now, she’ll be looking for a big win over Araujo to move into the top ten.
