Alex Pereira knocks out Sean Strickland in the first at UFC 276

On the main card of UFC 276 we saw a title eliminator in the middleweight division. The entertaining and popular Sean Strickland (25-3) returned as he took on one of the most decorated strikers in the UFC in Alex Pereira (5-1).

Alex Pereira is most known for his two wins including a knockout over current UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. So far, he’s 2-0 inside the octagon with one of those wins being a sensational flying knee knockout.

Sean Strickland had a decent UFC run going in the welterweight division and then he got in a motorcycle accident that almost cost him his career. When he returned to the UFC in 2020, he returned to the middleweight division and he’s been sensational. He’s gone 5-0 on his way to the fourth ranking in the division.

Round 1

The UFC 276 middleweight contest kicked off with a touch of the gloves. Strickland immediately takes the center and starts pressuring. Pereira is light on his feet and is opening up with kicks. Jab from Strickland and both men are just feeling the other out here.

Body kick from Pereira and then both men trade jabs. Right hand from Pereira just misses and Strickland is continuing the pressure here. Front kick to the body from Strickland and Pereira answers with a calf kick. Another nice low kick from Pereira lands.

Big right hand over the top from Pereira and he looks really comfortable here in the first. Jab from Strickland and then out of no where Pereira catches him with a huge left hand. Down goes Strickland but he bounces up just in time to eat a right hand that puts him down at UFC 276.
