Yankees set to get two impact pitchers back in the next few weeks

The New York Yankees are facing a bit of adversity with their starting pitching and bullpen as the All-Star break approaches. The starters have been battling fatigue but luckily have a day off on July 4 to rest their arms and rehabilitate before embarking on a lengthy road trip against Pittsburgh and Boston.

However, reinforcements are on the way for the Bombers in both the rotation and bullpen. With Ron Marinaccio being placed on the injured list with shoulder information, the Yankees need all the firepower they can get.

Two pitchers on their way back for the Yankees:

Domingo German:

Starting pitcher, Domingo German has been battling a shoulder issue for quite some time. German has already missed 80 games since his last appearance. He featured a 4.58 ERA last season over 98.1 innings, striking out 8.97 per nine and hosting and 42.2% ground ball rate, the best in his career with a sample size of 15 innings or more.

German allowed one run over two hits in four innings in a rehab start with Somerset this past weekend. German has been working his way back in the minor-league system, making three rehab starts, giving up one run in just over nine innings.

German has one more rehab start remaining, and if he performs well, he could find his way back to the Yankees in the next week or so.

Jonathan Loaisiga:

Now would be a great time for Jonathan Loáisiga to make a return from right shoulder inflammation. He was placed on the 15-day injured list on May 25, but Loáisiga is gearing up to face off against live hitters in a rehab stint. Loáisiga underwent a 21-pitch bullpen session on Saturday, so he’s well on his way to a full recovery.

“I heard he threw the ball really well, which would be in line with what we’ve been seeing in his bullpens,” Aaron Boone said.

Jonathan will participate in another BP session on Tuesday and could get a rehab assignment aftward if he looks strong.
