First and foremost, I want to send my deepest condolences to the Minaya family, who must be experiencing pain beyond belief. On Monday morning, the New York Post reported that Rachel Minaya, the wife of former Mets General manager and Yankees executive Omar Minaya, was found dead in their New Jersey home.

The couple share two kids, Justin and Teddy. Justin has been playing for the Portland Trail Blazers in the Summer League ahead of the NBA season. Omar and Rachel have been together since 1989, representing a storied and successful relationship. The traumatic nature of this event has certainly sent shockwaves through the Yankee organization.

Minaya previously featured as the Mets GM in 2004, helping them reach the NLCS in 2006. As an executive, he has helped offer another perspective and opinion for the Yankees, given his lengthy experience.

Minaya may have played a big part in helping execute the trade that brought Juan Soto from the San Diego Padres to the Yankees, having spent four years in their front office between 2011–15. This is a devastating event for the Yankee brass and all we can do is share his background and send our condolences his way as he deals with the most difficult event one can experience.
