The New York Yankees have one of the best pitching staffs in baseball. They have Max Fried…Gerrit Cole, and Carlos Rodon on the mend, a bullpen stacked with high upside arms, and apparently, a security team willing to go where no man has gone before.
Cam Schlittler took to X on Sunday to share a moment of triumph that had nothing to do with his fastball. A spider had infiltrated his locker. The security team was dispatched. The spider was extracted. Order was restored in the clubhouse.
“A spider was successfully extracted from my locker today,” Schlittler posted. “Best security team in the league!”
And honestly? He is not wrong. The Yankees have spent hundreds of millions building a championship roster, but none of that matters if the clubhouse is being overrun by arachnids. You cannot throw 95 mph with eight legs staring you down from behind your shin guards.
Schlittler is expected to be a key piece of the Yankees’ rotation in 2026. He went 4-3 with a 2.96 ERA last season and looks like a genuine breakout candidate heading into the year. Good to know his offseason work included mental toughness training of the highest order.
The spider had no comment.
