For the second time in three years, the New York Yankees will be facing the Houston Astros in the ALCS. The Astros have beaten the Rays by a score of 6-to-1 behind another masterful outing by Gerrit Cole.
Games one and two will be on October 12th and 13th (Saturday and Sunday) at 8PM EST from Minute Maid Park in Houston. Zack Greinke will likely pitch game one for the Astros, while it is undecided for the Yankees. All games here on out for the Yankees will be on FOX with Joe Buck and John Smoltz on the call.
Games three, four, and five will be at Yankee Stadium on October 15th, 16th, 17th before the series shifts back to Houston for games six and seven on October 19th and 20th. The World Series begins on October 22nd.
Entering the ALCS, the Yankees have a few roster decisions to make. They need to decide whether Aaron Hicks and CC Sabathia are healthy enough to be on the roster, and if so, who do they replace.
The Yankees are also trying to get revenge for when the Astros beat them in 2017 in game seven. Remember, when the series shifted to Houston, the Yankees had a 3-2 lead. In that series, the home team won every single game. The Yankees will need to find a way to win at least one road game to make it to the World Series.
The obvious hope is to split the first two games in Houston before winning all three at home, but that’s easier said than done. Hopefully that will happen and the Yankees can make it to their first World Series in 10 years.
