The New York Yankees are heading into the 2020 season with high hopes for another successful season. Yankee fans especially can’t wait to see their new star, Gerrit Cole, take the mound in pinstripes. Besides the fans, the players can’t wait to take the field too. Among those players, Luke Voit believes he’s in the best shape of his life and is ready to dominate this season.

In an interview with the New York Post, Voit said, “I have never felt any better in my life. It’s everything. I feel faster, more agile and my strength is back.”

Last season, Voit went down around the middle of the season with a sports hernia which caused him to miss significant time. Prior to that unfortunate injury, Voit was dominating at the plate. His first half of the season was arguably MVP-type numbers, as his OBP was through the roof and he was driving in a ton of players.

Not only is Voit excited for himself this season, but he’s also got high hopes for the team as well and believes they are going to have another great year. “(The Yankees are) one of the best teams in baseball,” Voit said. “It’s an elite team, elite starting pitching, and an elite lineup.”

He couldn’t be more than right. The Yankee lineup is solid from top to bottom and the rotation significantly improved from last season. Even though James Paxton will now miss 3-4 months of the season, there are guys like Jordan Montgomery that are ready to come in and take over that role.

After playing in 118 games last season, Voit slashed .263/.378/.464 with 21 home runs and 62 runs batted in. He was on a hot streak in the first half of the season when he had his first injury on June 30th which would begin the long time spent on the injured list.

Voit is going to have a productive year for the New York Yankees. He’s expected to be the starting first basemen and if you follow him on social media you can see all the hard work he’s put in over the offseason.
