New York Yankees ace Luis Severino was dominant in his first two starts of the season, but his third didn’t go to plan.  He went just three innings, throwing 72 pitches.

The plan was to give him like six innings and 90 pitches, but that plan fell through when he came out struggling.

Severino only gave up one hit, but couldn’t locate the ball and it resulted in four walks. He did have four strikeouts to counter it, striking out the side in the second.

Three of Severino’s four walks were surrendered in the first inning. He walked two before allowing a two RBI double to Rougned Odor.

He also got four fly-balls, a ground-ball, and threw first-pitch strikes to nine of the 14 batters he faced.

This Is No Big Deal

There is no need to worry about Luis Severino’s performance on Saturday. His stuff was good, he just couldn’t locate it and gave up a big hit early.

In just his third start of the season, he still has a lot of rust to shake off. He was in a sense rushed back a bit due to the end of the minor league season. He will still have little kinks to work out, and that will be fine.

Severino would be able to pitch any game of the ALDS due to the rest schedule. The team will likely have three starters make one start while one starter makes two.

Maybe, the starter that makes two starts could be Severino since his arm is a bit fresher than other guys like Paxton, Happ, and Tanaka.
