The official rosters for the ALDS haven’t been released yet, but we have found out that New York Yankees veteran lefty CC Sabathia will be left off the roster against the Minnesota Twins with an injury. This time, it’s in his shoulder and not his knee.

He’s been dealing with shoulder soreness over the last while, and it’s probably why we didn’t see him out of the bullpen in Texas.

“I feel like we have a good opportunity, so I don’t want to be selfish.”

A huge reason why the Yankees wanted him back for 2019 is because of his leadership and his team-first mentality, and that’s just another example of that. He doesn’t want to play injured, disappoint, and take away a spot from someone more deserving.

Will CC Pitch Again?

If the Yankees make a deep postseason run, it’s still a possibility that CC could pitch then. But, the way things are looking, CC may never pitch in a game again.

A week from now, the ALCS will be beginning and the likelihood of him being healthy then is slim to none. Assuming that the team does advance, it’s hard to see him making it onto that roster. The beginning of the World Series, about two and a half weeks out, would probably be his best shot at a return.

Right now he seems happy enough being in the dugout and clubhouse, helping guys out. I’m sure that he would love one last chance to appear in a major league game, but it may not be feasible.

If it’s it, congrats to CC Sabathia on an amazing career. See you in Cooperstown.
