While the World Series isn’t over yet (it hasn’t even started, as a matter of fact) the New York Yankees can start planning for 2021, even if they can’t still make any moves. For now, let’s focus on those players that are eligible for the arbitration process. These players are between their fourth and sixth year of team control.
According to the always reliable Spotrac, here is the Yankees’ list of arbitration-eligible players and their current salaries:
These players, as a group, will probably cost the New York Yankees a considerable portion of their payroll, as some of them are expected to earn significant increases when compared to their 2020 salaries.
Shortstop Gleyber Torres, third baseman Gio Urshela, first baseman Luke Voit, outfielder Clint Frazier, infielder/outfielder Miguel Andujar, and right-handed pitchers Domingo German, Jonathan Holder and Luis Cessa are all eligible for the first time.
Right fielder Aaron Judge is expected to receive a sizable bump as a second-time eligible players, as are Chad Green, Jordan Montgomery and Gary Sanchez, who is coming off a down year at the plate.
Yankees’ reliever Tommy Kahnle will be in his last season with the Bombers, but it is likely that he doesn’t pitch at all in 2021, as he is recovering from Tommy John surgery.
