The New York Rangers are expecting to have center Ryan Strome in their line when the team takes to the ice for Game 4 on Tuesday night.
The New York Rangers are likely to have center Ryan Strome back in the lineup after suffering a lower-body injury during the second period of the team’s 3-2 loss.
Head coach Gerard Gallant said after Monday’s optional practice that Strome should be fine.
“He should be fine tomorrow,” Gallant said Monday. “We’ll see tomorrow, but he should be fine to go. We fully expect him to play” When asked to clarify Strome’s status, Gallant said: “I expect him to [play]. I haven’t been told any different right now.” NHL.com
Strome suffered the injury after contact with Tampa Bay’s Ondrej Palat. Strome turned to skate away and immediately had discomfort and pain. He attempted to return in the third period, but only took one shift and then headed back to the locker room.
Strome has been centering the second line with Artemi Panarin and Andrew Copp. He has nine points (two goals, seven assists) in 17 games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Rangers lead the best of seven series 2-1 with game 4 slatted for Tuesday night at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
Goodrow ok for Game 4
Barclay Goodrow was also injured on Sunday afternoon after he blocked in the third period with the Lightning on a power-play. Fortunately, he returned for the Rangers in less than five minutes and completed the game.
“There’s always concerns, but tomorrow he’ll feel a lot better,” Gallant said. “Guys on both teams are hurt at this time of year and they find a way to play.” NHL.com
Goodrow had missed 11 playoff games but gave the Rangers a much-needed spark when he returned for Game 6 of Round 2 against the Carolina Hurricanes.
