New York Rangers GM Chris Drury has traded defenseman Nils Lundkvist to the Dallas Stars as the team has acquired a conditional first-round selection in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft and a conditional fourth-round selection in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft from the Dallas Stars in exchange for the defenseman.
Lundkvist had requested a trade last season after he was sent down to the AHL. The 22-year-old was selected by the Rangers 29th overall in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. He had made the team aware that he would not attend training camp, which begins on Wednesday.
Lundkvist skated in 25 games for the Rangers last season, collecting one goal and three assists for four points. With the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack in 2021-22, he tallied 15 points (3G-12A) in 34 games.
