The New York Mets got their guy. Dellin Betances was on the Mets radar since free agency started and they have officially added him to a potentially dominant bullpen.

Steve Cohen said the Mets were going to spend as he was taking over the franchise and he delivered on that promise. Betances was one of the most dominant and consistent relievers in all of baseball before injuries derailed his 2019 season. He was signed to a one year deal with a play option for the 2021 season.

Injury Risks?

No one knows if Betances is still his dominant self after suffering multiple injury set backs in 2019. This was a risk the Mets needed to take. Betances should be more than ready to go after getting a full offseason to recover and join a Mets team that was only a decent bullpen away from being a postseason team.

The potential in the Mets bullpen is very scary. If Edwin Diaz and Jeurys Familia return to form, the Mets have a top tier bullpen. Seth Lugo, Justin Wilson, Brad Brach and Robert Gsellman also join them in their bullpen. The Mets are starting to look like a complete team and have a roster that can compete for the NL East crown.
