The New York Mets are among a short list of teams interested in a veteran bullpen talent on the open market this winter.
The Mets could make a play for reliever Tim Hill
Sports Illustrated’s Pat Ragazzo recently revealed that the Mets are looking into adding seven-year veteran Tim Hill this offseason:
“Source: Free agent lefty reliever Tim Hill is drawing interest from the Mets, Yankees, Dodgers, Diamondbacks, Rockies and Angels,” Ragazzo reported on X on Monday. “There’s mutual interest on a reunion with the Yankees who remain in the mix, as do the Mets who are searching for another reliever.”

Hill could service the Mets in a leadup role next season
Hill played well in 2024. The California native earned a combined 3.36 ERA and tossed 31 strikeouts last season. He did sport a 1.433 WHIP that exceeded his career average, but could service the Mets next time out.
New York’s bullpen had and still has a great amount of talent at its disposal. However, the Mets’ unit had blunders throughout last season that they’ll look to clean up next time around, namely blown saves from Edwin Diaz and play from their lead-up men that could be fine-tuned. Hill could slide into their operation and help them best their National League foes next time out.
