New York Knicks fans have been through a lot. It is never easy to tell someone that the Knicks are your team, when asked. It always leads to a depressed reaction or comment. However, there is no question the loyalty each Knicks fan holds. The Knicks fan base is the best in the NBA.
There is no doubt that the struggle has been real for the Knicks and their fans. This is not taking away from every other team and their fans. But, there is a little more that goes into it to be a Knicks fans. The Knicks are like a virus.
The tough times this fan base has endured is something out of a movie. It always seems that something is always going wrong for the Knicks. Whether that be with players, contracts, outside distractions, ownership, etc.
Through all of that noise, the Knicks continue to come to support their team. The Knicks had the league’s worst record last season and the fan kept coming back. There is no other city that is begging for their team to be relevant, let alone good, again.
There have been other NBA cities and fans that have never won anything and might be thinking that Knicks fans should not be complaining. They have the most valuable franchise and play in the biggest market. But, New York remains in the spotlight receiving constant media attention simply because it is New York.
Knicks fans are cut from a different cloth. Throughout all of the hardships, ups-and-downs, fans remain loyal. If the Knicks were able to win again the city would be electric. New York is a different animal with the Knicks are relevant and that is because of the fans.
Some fans might be brutally honest, pessimistic or optimistic. Knicks fans are all different. But, the one thing all fans can agree on is the burning desire to see the team succeed and just be relevant. The Garden was going nuts when the Knicks won their 17th game of the season last year, imagine the playoffs. People forget that feeling because it seems like forever since the Knicks have been in the playoffs, 2012-13.
The fact of the matter is that Knicks fans are different. It is bias, yes. But, through thick-and-thin and constant bashing of the teams success, fans keep coming back for more.  There is no other fan base that is as ride-or-die like New York Knicks fans.
