The New York Knicks took a hit in the ratings this past season.  This should come as no surprise to fans.
According to the Sports Business Journal, MSG Network had its Knicks ratings drop 38%. Â I guess when you trade away a franchise player like Kristaps Porzingis, that will happen.
New York Knicks top the Nets in TV viewership:
Despite the big drop in ratings, the Knicks still had better ratings than their borough rival the Brooklyn Nets, who saw their numbers increase as they enjoyed a post-season appearance.
According to Daily News’ Stefan Bondy, the Nets had the league’s worst attendance and television ratings despite making the playoffs. Yeah, making the playoffs is good and all, but what good is it when your fans aren’t watching the games?
Nets accounts on Twitter like to take gabs towards the Knicks and their fan accounts, due to not making the playoffs, having a better outlook and now with the ratings.
However, the New York Knicks are still the King of the City.  That is never going to change.  Yes, the Nets had a tiny boost in ratings the past two seasons, but they’re still last in attendance and ratings.
Even while the Knicks had the leagues worst record, fans still continue to come to games, pay top dollar for court-side seats and cheer on the team despite constant losing for years now. Â This just goes to show how loyal New York Knicks fans are to their team.
As pumped as Nets fans should be that they made the playoffs and boosted their ratings, they’re still in second place. The Knicks almost lost have their ratings, on MSG, and still out rated the Nets.  Good for Brooklyn on their success, but it is and always will be the Knicks City.
