While the New York Knicks didn’t have the lucrative summer some thought they would, they did add several key pieces to the team. Losing out on Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving surely won’t help them succeed during the 2019-20 season. However, signing both Julius Randle and Marcus Morris should give us a hint of optimism and hope that they can finally be a team worth watching.

Second-year undrafted guard, Allonzo Trier, will play a key role on the offensive side of the ball. He has worked tirelessly this off-season to improve his three-point shot, as the executives are looking for him to increase his attempts from beyond the arc due to his elevated hit-percentage last season.

Trier finished his rookie campaign hitting .394% from three-point land. He also connected on two-point shots at .466%.

He will be looked upon to change the course of games and make an impact while on the floor. He’s an efficient scorer which makes him a must-play and key contributor throughout the regular season.

The Arizona standout average 10.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists across 22.8 minutes per game in 2018.

Can the New York Knicks succeed?

The Knicks once again find themselves gasping for air and looking for a hint of hope for the future. Adding several free agents should give them the boost they need to beat their 17-win benchmark set just one year ago.

Trier commented on his hopes for 2019 and what a newly rebuilt Knicks team is capable of:

“Just come in and be better,” Trier said, per Ian Begley of SNY.TV. “Obviously, there’s no question that we have more talent across the board, which can always be more helpful. Now it will be on us to execute Coach Fizdale’s plan for us and to come together and find a way to be a better basketball team, which there should be no excuse for with the talent that we have coming into this season. It will be a great opportunity for us.”
