It is the biggest off-season in team history for the New York Knicks. Â This summer will show the fan base the direction of the franchise for the coming decade and beyond. Â First-year head coach David Fizdale will be the key to landing top free agents.
Despite struggling his first season, Fizdale remained positive and optimistic throughout it all. Â You saw the fire he had for coaching regardless of score and teams record. Â Fizdale displayed sideline antics, reacting with joyous fury for his guys boosting their confidence.
He is exactly the coach this young team needs. Â Fizdale is experienced and most of all, likable. Â He has the respect of many high profile players around the league. Â Case-in-point, LeBron James and Dwayne Wade, when Fizdale was an assistant in Miami during the 2012 and 2013 championships.
Fizdale is going to pitch free agents the optimism that is slowly becoming truth. The Knicks have several young players with a giant upside, Mitchell Robinson, Kevin Knox, Allonzo Trier and Dennis Smith Jr.  The Knicks also have 7 first round picks in the next 5 years.  And most of all, he’ll be able to pitch the Mecca.
Fizdale himself said, “It’s the New York Knicks.† He is accepting the challenge to bring a winning culture and team back to the city that is pleading for a winner.  The Garden had a playoff atmosphere when the Knicks won their 16th game of the season.  Can you imagine what it would be like if they were in the playoffs or simply relevant?  Priceless.
