The New York Knicks enter the offseason with the worst season of all teams in the NBA. Now, they have to wait all the way until May to find out if the struggle during the season will be rewarded with the number 1 overall pick.
The Lakers have fired there head coach, Luke Walton. Their General Manager, Magic Johnson, has stepped down. The expectation was, with Lebron James, the Lakers would be able to get to the playoffs, even with an unassuming cast of Ramon Rondo, Michael Beasley, Lance Stephenson, and others. None of those guys are shooters, and you need to surround James with shooters. With the Lakers out of the playoff race, Lebron was frustrated after a frustrating season.
The Trade
Without a no trade clause, could Lebron James be on his way out of LA?
The Knicks have the pieces to acquire a big name talent like Anthony Davis. But why not shoot bigger and go for Lebron James? Here is a potential trade with the Knicks
Knicks Receive: Lebron James
Lakers Receive: Frank Ntilikina, Kevin Knox, Lance Thomas, 2019 first round pick, 2020 first round pick
Trade Breakdown
The Knicks get the king of basketball. They can pair him with Kevin Durant, and potentially even a star point guard.
While the Lakers get a lot of young talent back, after last years experiment did not work. Included in that is two former first round picks, and two future first round picks. The package for the Lakers gives them a defensive minded point guard, and a wing oozing with potential.  All this while hopefully pair with a generational talent, Zion Williamson, if the ping pong balls roll right.
They also get a first round pick next year to help build around this young core, which also includes Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, and Josh Hart. While this trade is extremely unlikely, like .00000000000001% chance, it is fun to dream about a Knicks team in the playoffs, with Lebron James leading the team.
