In an interview with SNY’s Ian Begley, New York Knicks guard Allonzo Trier was asked about the expectations for this upcoming season.

Trier responded with, “Just come in and be better.”  He continued with the Knicks adding more ‘talent across the board’ as well” and there should be “no excuse” for them to be a better basketball team.

Nothing Trier said was wrong.  While some will look at this off-season as a failure for the Knicks, others can see the light.

The Knicks added more talent, drafted well and have the veteran presence to improve from a league’s worst record season.  The team added Julius Randle, coming off a career year.  Taj Gibson, to mentor Robinson, and Marcus Morris to help with defense and bring a toughness back to New York.

They also added Bobby Portis, Elfrid Payton and Wayne Ellington.  The Knicks drafted very well with RJ Barrett and Iggy Brazdeikis.  Iggy can be another second-round steal, similar to Mitchell Robinson last draft.

The Knicks certainly have the talent to be a better team this upcoming this season.  Scott Perry has been adding players who are the correct players for the system that David Fizdale wants to run.

NBA fans do not see the Knicks being better then they were last season.  This team has the underdog mentality and the right group of young and veteran players to be a better team.  If there was ever a time for the Knicks to start turning around the franchise, it starts this season.
