The New York Knicks could have been sold back in 2008.  Selling the team has been a topic of conversation for a while now.  However, it seems 2008 was the best chance for  that to actually happen for the Knicks.

Mikhail Prokhorov, owner of the Brooklyn Nets, was looking to purchase a NBA franchise back in 2007-2008.  He looked at the, then, New Jersey Nets, Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks.

For the sake of this article, the owner of our team, Knicks, shall not be named, but you know who we are talking about.

Prokhorov considered purchasing the Knicks, but the owner wanted a ‘bizarre sum’ for the franchise.  That does not surprise Knicks fans.

The Knicks are currently the most valuable franchise in the NBA, valued at 4 billion.  Prokhorov purchased the owning rights for the Nets for $365 million.  If he purchased the Nets that much back then, we can only imagine that ‘bizarre sum’ the Knicks head-huncho wanted.

Recently, Prokhorov is being bought out by Joseph Tsai for the Nets and Barclay Center for, a record, $2.35 billion.  Tsai also recently purchased the WNBA franchise New York Liberty.

The Knicks are in re-build mode with second-year GM Scott Perry and head coach David Fizdale.  The team as a lot of young talent that which makes the future bright.  The Nets also have young talent and the guys that the Knicks whiffed on in free agency, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.  De’Andre Jordan also flip-flopped teams, in wake of his close friend, Durant, choosing Brooklyn.

So, which owner would you want for your team?

Would you rather have the Russian billionaire, Prokhorov, who got the Nets to where they are today.  Or the Knicks big guy, who has a band and yells at fans for voicing their disgust.
