Adam Gase is having one of the worst first seasons a New York Jets‘ head coach has ever had.

As if this season has not been embarrassing enough for the Jets Adam Gase has just set two completely embarrassing records with his loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Adam Gase is set to become the first Jets head coach to have a losing record in their first season since Rich Kotite. He will be the first Jets head coach to not have a winning season in their year with the team since Woody Johnson bought the team in 2000.

The Jets have had six head coaches in between Gase and Kotite, all of whom had winning seasons in year one. Since Woody Johnson bought the team in 2000 only two of the five head coaches before Gase had missed the playoffs in year one. Adam Gase will join Todd Bowles and Al Groh in that category.

Even more embarrassing is that Adam Gase’s Jets have become the first team in NFL history to lose to two win-less teams who had a record of at least 0-7 or worse. That’s unacceptable in any world. To make it even worse Gase lost both of those games by eight or more points.

Despite all of that Jets’ CEO Chris Johnson has promised that Adam Gase will return as the Jets head coach in 2020. That is just flat out inexcusable. Adam Gase has done nothing to earn another season and done everything to be fired.

So, the next time you ask yourself why the Jets are awful just remember who’s running the team. Dysfunction always starts at the top. For the Jets that means the Johnson family, specifically, Chris Johnson who led the hiring process and has now backed his failed choice.

The New York Jets just don’t know how to stop shooting themselves in the foot.
