The New York Jets have a handful of players that are projected to be among the top 100 most influential players for the 2024 NFL season. Zachary Pereles of CBS Sports named Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, offensive linemen Olu Fashanu and Tyron Smith, WR Garrett Wilson, and CB Sauce Gardner at No. 12-16 on his list of the 100 players that will make the biggest impact next season.
Jets’ offense is riding on QB Aaron Rodgers and his two outstanding offensive linemen
Rodgers looked like an MVP candidate when last seen at full strength in 2022. He completed 64.6 percent of his passes for 3,695 passing yards leading the Green Bay Packers, not falling too far behind his numbers from his MVP seasons in 2020 and 2021.
Protecting him will be Smith, who earned Second Team All-Pro honors in 2023 having only allowed one sack in 847 offensive snaps played, and Fashanu, who “did not allow a single sack in his collegiate career,” neither did he concede a quarterback hit in 2023.
Garrett Wilson can become an All-Pro level wideout in 2024
Those two will be expected to help Rodgers sling the ball down the field to his No. 1 receiver Garrett Wilson next season. Wilson followed up his rookie season total of 1,103 receiving yards with another 1,042 REC yards and three receiving touchdowns in 2023. His output can reach new heights in his third season catching dimes from the four-time MVP QB.
NFL’s best corner Sauce Gardner can spearhead a championship Jets defense
As for Gardner, he will anchor the Jets’ secondary as the best cornerback in football. Opposing quarterbacks only targeted receivers that Gardner was assigned to 10.1 percent of the time and generated a paltry 22.4 receiving yards per game on 2.1 weekly receptions in the previous campaign. His 10.1 percent target rate ranked No. 2 at his position.
The Jets’ star players will be instrumental in how great of a regular season record they can earn and how far they can advance in a hopeful playoff run. More so, they’ll be among the top contributors who set the bar at their respective positions.
