Taking a look at Minnesota cornerback Chris Williamson, drafted by the New York Giants with the 243rd overall pick:

The Giants added another nickel corner in Chris Williamson out of Minnesota. He’s a feisty defender who can play in zone coverage and is willing to jam at the line of scrimmage as well. He has solid size and ample speed to stick with receivers on the interior.

Williamson has the athleticism to compete at a quality level for the Giants and will likely fight for a roster spot and potentially starting reps for the future. The Giants also drafted UCLA corner Darnay Holmes, who is projected as one of the draft’s best slot options.

Despite Williamson’s solid aggressiveness and physical traits, he has problematic tackling technique and anticipating plays. He has zero red flags and is more a product of poor fundamentals. Head coach Joe Judge has made it a priority to focus on fundamentals specifically, so Williamson could be an excellent sleeper pick in the seventh round.
